The parents of Jarred and Arturo de la Shadou had two children; Boys that grew up inside the family coven.
Born with the ability to make the shadows Their own, both perfected the use of such dark abilities. They learned
the use of psionics(an extension of Their innate ability to mindspeak with each Other), perfecting Their abilities
as They kept Their parents from knowing what They planned. And after years of abuse, They killed Their parents.
Jarred becoming the new head of the coven and Arturo slipping away into the world.
Taraliece's family met Jarred through a meeting between the two covens. To join the two, and therefore become
stronger, Her parents forced Their daughter to wed Jarred. Not long after this ritual took place, Taraliece's
Family was killed by a Drow raiding party in retaliation for their meddling magics in Drow affairs. Soon, all
alone with no help from Her Family, Taraliece, a strong shadow psionist in Her own right, was brought beneath
Her husbands thumb, bowing to all His wishes.
As each child was born Jarred's anger grew. None of the children showing the powers He sought to create and
bring under His control. Soon children began disappearing, sold off or sent to death by the angry Father.
His experiments on One of His son's, coupled with a childhood disease the child sterile,
futher increasing Jarred's anger when His experiment failed. Never seeing that the failures He saw lay within
Himself, His anger continued to be released onto His family as more children where born.
Each child was treated the same, yet different. All bore the brunt of Their father's anger and the
inconsistency of His pleasure at using Them, igniting the anger of the second generation. Their rage grew as
the horrors continued, fermenting in the fertile atmosphere created by Their Father and condoned by Their Mother.
The children vowed revenge on Their Father, knowing that They and Their mother were only allowed to live at His
whim, to further His plans
When Arturo finally returned, Jarred sought to create what He wanted using his brother and wife. Arturo's
own plans and powers interferring, the half~sister was born. Arturo sought to have Taraliece leave with Him, but
She would not abandon Her children. Arturo left once more, leaving His Brother's Wife to bear the child he
implanted in Her fertile womb at the height of the solstice and the Storm he called. Jarred quickly took the
infant away, leaving Her to die in the forest, refusing to accept or raise the bastard of his brother.
The older children reaching an age where They sought to protect the younger ones, this second generation soon
realized that They could only depend on themselves. Shunned by villagers and strangers alike, the children of
Jarred and Taraliece shunned all in return.
Valerian and Armand both spend hours studying, perfecting their chosen crafts, and avoiding their father at all
costs. Taraliece approaches her sons, and the three of them devise a plan to save at least some of the children
from their father's wrath. Armand removed as many fertilized embryo's from his mother as he can over the course
of many years, and Valerian traveled through time to hide the siblings~to~be from his father. Not long after the
birth of Arturo's daughter, Jarred finds out about the deception and Valerian disappears. The Siblings assume their
father has finally managed to kill one of them, and Armand aids in this belief, using his arcane arts to hide Valerian's
return from his family. The Manipulator of Time manages to erase all memory of himself from his siblings, and then vanishes
to continue the plan laid out by his Mother. One night Their father nearly kills Their mother with His beatings and abuse of Her body, and while He lay in
His bed, those children that He kept, crept into His room and killed him. When Their mother awoke from the coma
Their father had induced, They told Her He had left and She accepted it. By now the Family twisted beyond
redemption, the eldest son, Jarred, decrees that the children are no longer de la Shadou, but Darkshadow,
the name taken from the villagers that taunted Them. He takes His mother to His bed, and not long thereafter
She dies, giving birth to her daughter/grandchild. With her last breath she named the child Trinity. And then
joined her husband in the hell in which They now reside, both of Them stronger now than They were in life.
If One listens closely, One may hear Tarliece's voice singing soulfully to Them
or even feel the scalding hatred of Jarred's rage.
