His Past:
Assumed to be born in New Orleans, nothing is known of Remy's origins until he came to live with the Guildmaster of Thieves, Jean Luc LeBeau. Caught picking the man's pocket and taken in, brought up within the tradition, learning to hone his skills. His mutant nature was initially apparent by his strange eyes. Black sclera, red irises that seem to glow when his emotions flared. At puberty, he came into his powers. His ability to make things blow up was concealed and protected, only encouraged in secret. As well his ability to understand the underlying feelings of others, and be able to "charm" through his rambling banter.
He met his future wife, Bella Bordreaux. through the guild's delicate handlings. Daughter of the assassin's guild in the same city, he and Bella rambled the streets of New Orleans like underground prince and princess, the tensions between the guilds beyond their worry. It was not until their betrothal that they came to find enimies within their ranks, and within Bella's brother himself. On their wedding day, Remy was forced into a duel, killing her brother Julien. Fleeing the wrath of the assassin's guild, he stopped looking back when he heard that Bella was murdered.
From that point he became a drifter, stealing when he needed, charming from people what he couldn't steal. Wandering, aimless, on a permanant vacation. Until he came to the west coast and couldn't wander any further. He stopped at a city on the coast and stayed there a spell, taking a hotel room for a while.
Here he came to learn that he was not the only one of his kind, not the only one that was "different". He met the Rogue one night in the park, fending off competition for a good spot on the bench in the park. He smiled and took her to dinner. Then took her home. He started meeting others, his gregarious personality bringing out their secrets.
Once it became clear that many of the "different ones" were homeless, he came into contact with a mutant who had the means to help, one with money. The Hostel was founded with Jean Grey and Emma Frost's fortunes, and the small mutant family grew and flourished.
But people with great power draw great troubles, and trouble came, again and again, despite the atempts of the Hostel residents, children and adults alike, to maintain peace.
A great cataclysm rocked the west coast, destroying their city, and the Westchester School for the Gifted came into being in Salem Center, less than an hour's drive from New York City on the east coast. And there the past ends, the present begins.
