Helena Everbreeze

Planewalker
Chosen Lore Mistress of Oghma 20th level
Chosen of Mystra 22th level
Virgin Queen of Mt.Ethra

Came to Beware August 1999
Raised an only child. Her father is his Grace Andrew Roland Everbreeze Duke of Westgate, brother to His Royal Majesty Azoun Oboarskyr.
Helena is heir to the Dukedom and that vast responsibility which comes with such a title. Her familys main fortune lays in shipping, both overland and seas, with other areas of commerce such spice importing and exporting.

A precocious child, Helena was forever convincing her cousin Duncan to go along on some kind of an escapade, whether is was stowing away on one her fathers ships, or breaking into the local cemetery at night to see if zombies really existed.

Duncan is Helenas best friend and confidant. Loyal to a fault Helena would do anything Duncan asked her with barely a question as to why she should. Pity any who would point out to the Lore Mistress, her cousins, penchant for drink and lascivious ways

As a young woman in a civilized place she is always composed and immaculate following the dictates of polite society.
Her mastery of protocol a terrifying thing, she can cite the laws of over a dozen different countries over as many planes.

Schooled in the finest of institutes, and tutored by the high priest of Oghma she can read and write over 7 different languages and is quite skilled at deciphering script.
At first glance the lady appears emotionless and distant however nothing could be farther from the truth.
Insight and truth are the real passion that fires her spirited Bluestocking heart; it flutters at a new tale of lost lore.
Helena is her firm belief that every myth at some point has even the smallest grain of truth to it and that drives her. In truth she is much more at home and relaxed when discussing things of an academic nature.

Her mother took her to an archaeological dig site when she was 9 the priest of Oghma regaled her with tales of mummies and lost lore and treasure hidden within the burial mound. Explaining how these native people would make ossuaries and leave there dead out to the elements only to return 7 years later and bury them in large copper drums.

He told her that this clans sacred totem was turtle the earth mother and protector. The shaman of the tribe had placed these combs on his people to protect them from evil sprits that would try to bar their souls way to their beyond. The priest gave Helena's mother a comb made of tortoise shell and told her it had been carved by the shaman of the tribe.
From that moment Helena was hooked on discovering the past so that she could teach others to learn from it and not repeat it.
Her chestnut hair is always held bound by the comb as a reminder of what she feels was a very life defining moment.
At 11 years old she was betrothed to Rerek De Bresse a then young lieutenant in the kings army, an Earl whose familys prime fortune was found in the training of mercenaries. A small concession when such a union would seal the De Bresse forces to the crown once and for all. At such a young age Helena could not help but be smitten by the heroic young man fresh home from the tuigan crusade. Rerek looked upon his intended bride as a younger sister and encouraged her sometimes-reckless behaviour amused by her tales of portals and lands beyond.

Helena does nothing in half measures. When she pursues a tidbit of knowledge it is to the ends of the earth to prove or disprove it. When she loves it is with all her being, and when she hurts or feels betrayed that too is never forgotten.
A lesson learned all to well by Rerek De Bresse when at 16 the young Helena happened upon him and Lady Eleanor in her fathers study. More horrified was she to learn that her father new of the dalliance, and explained that was the way of the noble life. Heart hardened, and promising herself she would never again give her heart to a man; she publicly renounced the betrothal without so much as a hint of her father or De Bresse.

Helena turned to her animal totems for guidance. Something her mother had tried to teach her of before her own untimely death.
Oddly it was her turning to her guides that brought her the long sought after book Peregrines Portals.

For the last 7 years she has travelled the planes and crystal spheres searching for the city of sigil. Gathering tomes of rare and unique lore she sends them back to Duncan who catalogues them faithfully for her and places them in her private library, within castle Ravenwild.
Along the way Helena has gotten caught up in quests for many historical enigmas, but her passion and hearts desire is the same. To join the plane walkers guild of sigil; that and to become the first female member of the society of stalwart adventurers are the two goals that always seems just beyond her reach.
Helena has been ordained a Loremaster of Oghma and as such cannot refuse to offer knowledge to those seeking the truth. She has no use for weapons but does carry a small ceremonial dagger for harvesting spell components.

In Many ways the lady owes all she has become to General Rerek DeBresse her former betrothed. Had she not discovered his infidelity she never would have fled Westgate as a means to escape her heartbreak. Since then Helena has developed an odd and dangerous emotional defense.

At anytime when the lady fears she may get into a postion where her heart may be lost, she puts herself into the most extreme danger as she can find. Wanting to feel Anything but that acute brand of pain again. Her cousin Duncan knows that when Helena utters the word anything she will flee shortly after that, usually seeking the most dangerous route to anywhere.
Until recently that danger had taken the shape of the Lord of Demons prince of the demi-plane known as the Neatherworld, as well as the alhoon Alcanter, who's Library she liberated with the help of the Lord of Demon's son RealmsHope, Nimbley Bramblefoot, lil red corvette, and Satan's angel.

Helena loved Realmshope, but sadly the heart of a demon is not easily held.
It was the Angel Adramelech who taught her wounded heart to feel again. On the fair grouds of the dragon world the angel proposed, and then was forced back to the heavens by his god.

That combined with the death of her uncle King Azoun she has begun practicing the opening of a portal leading to Mechanus, a plane more deadly by far the then Neatherwold.

A new danger has reared it's head; An elven man, Edain Essendle, King of the elves stole her heart when she was not looking. She thought him just a friend willing to go on grand adventures with her, until one night in a grotto, he kissed her. Edain never wanted to be King, it was a role his brother had been groomed for. Sent into the world to find help, for his people, he stumbled on Helena. The form of a threat from the north on the plains of Shalingrey, on the world of Mordreath. Her closest friends among Mordreath, and the DragonWorld would be treated as honoured guest. They would be the ladies Celebration, Phaydra, sweet poison, BlackJaguar of Shadows, Deis, Emeria Yuri Salvation, Durnhass, Maria Pareses and of course her best friend ShadowWind.

It is most certain Duncan Everbreeze would enjoy showing the ladies around the dukedom especailly the widowed elven princess Estraya Essendle. He would also enjoy the preccocious Halfling Nimbley, and Ol'Willie proprietor of the Dripping Rose Inn.

Of late...
Helena has renewed her ties with her own home and more importantly taken the opprotunity to reunite with Duncan her most beloved cousin who for the longest time kept up the facade that she was in the marshes of Chelmiber teaching heathesn so her father would not find her. Her father to she has settled a tacit reconcilliation with. He is over joyed she wed the king of the elves, and she has agreed to return to Westgate frequently to take care of her duties as duchess. While he cannot be with her all the time, It seems the elven king spends less and less time at home. Shocking considering all they have been through to be together. Helena has left Mordreath, and returned to the lands of Beware. A horrible event in the Dragonworld caused the plane to collaspe in on itself. But she knows her husbands son with ShadowWind still lives and so that is her new goal, to find the boy. Return him to one of his mothers arms.

Her husband has made it clear that at present he wishes no children and so the Lore Mistress is left to wonder about that.
Is it because she is human and he is waiting for her to pass on from this life? So that he can take an elven mate? Does he regret marrying her now that his lands are saved? Perhaps that is why he stays away?
What ever his reason, the Lore Mistress now approaching 27, is tired of spending all her time alone in a castle surrounded by elves that tolerate her. So she has taken up her old ways, puruing the to ends of the earth, lost knowledge and restoring it to the light. ****** ******************** ******** ******* **** *******
Helena can count on one hand how many times she has seen her husband in the last five years, through her wedding band, the Mistress of Lore knows that he is still alive and as such has left Ethra completely and left its care in the hands of the Dwarf Groanar Stoneblood. The last five years have devastated the womans self esteem and she is lacking in confidence where men are concerned. Few are the women that are married 7 years and claim a virginal status.

So its reasoned there is some flaw she is not aware of, that keeps her husband away.
For a learned woman Helena is clueless when it comes to love. As noted when she was speaking to the Faerie Escalla.

"Love is a chemical imbalance of the brain,
It can be corrected with herbs."

"You want me to use this? Its a little big for carving a roast."Helena speaking to her husband when gifted with a knife to protect herself.

Oghma Greater GOD
Portfolio-Knowledge, Influence, Inspiration to Bards The Lord of Knowledge, Lord of all that is known. Lore Giver Creator of Speech and Writing The Binder Oghma is called the binder because he has the ability to know any creatures true name. What is more he can force any demon or devil into a prison of his choosing, until he decided to release them. He has incurred the wrath of Druaga for this. However he has little to fear from these vile fiends. And it is said the Nine Lords are displeased with him as well. Taken from On Hallowed Ground

Oghma is the most powerful deity of knowledge. A cheerful and wise power with a gift for persuading others to his point of view, he tends to implement complex plots he has puzzled through mentally first rather then taking direct actions. He sits in judgement of every new idea,. Deciding if it's to remains with its creator or be allowed into the world. The church of Oghma is responsible for the accumulating and distribution of knowledge and lore. The church accepts people of any alignment as long as they are interested in the promotion of knowledge. The clergy consists of cloistered sages and archivists who analyse file and copy the temples archives. As well as travelling clerics and brads that seek out knew knowledge to bring back to the temples. Most temples support themselves by selling maps spell scrolls and scribe work.
Rituals The churches two daily ceremonies are the binding, performed in the morning and invoking the writings of Oghma symbols during silent prayer, and the covenant an evening service in which works of wisdom, songs and new knowledge are shared aloud with the deity and present clergy members. And worshippers. His cleric often lean towards barding and magic as well preaching. DOGMA
Knowledge particularly the raw knowledge of ideas is supreme. An idea has no weight, but it can move mountains. The greatest gift of humankind and idea outweighs anything made by mortal hands. Knowledge is power and must be used with care, but hiding it away from others is never a good thing. Stifle no new idea, no matter how false and crazed they may seem. Rather let them be heard and considers. Never slay a singe nor stand by as others do. Spread knowledge where it is prudent to do so. Curb any falsehoods, Rumours and deceitful tales whenever you encounter them. Write or copy lore of great value at least once a year and give it away. Sponsor and teach bards, scribes. And record keepers. Spread truth and knowledge so that folk know more Never deliver a message falsely or incompletely. Teach reading and writing to those who ask( if your time permits ) and charge no fee for the teaching
