Armour of Dragonscale

Nine suits of armor were made from the scales of the black dragon Sierenth who fell by crYme's hand in Northern Beware.

The shaped scales are rivetted to a very fine 8-in-1 weave of mithril chain. Sierenth had been a relatively young dragon, and ill with the wasting disease he had contracted from Grimspear, therefore his scales were weaker than those of others of his kind:

"His scales... were black, not in a glossy sense, but like shadow. They seemed to rob the light from around them outright, making it appear to be a blur of nothingness there...unfortunately, his scales will have lost a good amount of their toughness to the disease. Though they still should prove useful against fire and bludgeoning and slashing of any sort. A good spear or sword-thrust or well-drawn bow will puncture clean through."

Hopefully the mithril chain underneath will stop any attack that gets through the scale. The armour is only a little heavier than ordinary leather armour, and fairly flexible. It looks something like this, except that it has no shiny parts except the small emblem, inlaid in hair-fine lines of mithril, on the breast-plate of each suit. Each suit also has a coif, gambeson, and leggings of heavy quilted black silk to go underneath, and a short tabard of black silk to go over. It does not jingle, clank or creak, and it has no scent.

It also has no enchantment upon it. Though it was indeed made by magick, it is not magickal armour; merely exquisitely-crafted ordinary armour, if mithril and dragon-scale can be considered "ordinary". A "Detect Magick" spell will therefore find nothing, unless perhaps a very faint trace of "ordered chaos" left by the beings who made it... and even that will be gone within a few days.
