Darian Darkshadow

THE EARLY YEARS

Not much is remembered or known of Darian's very early years. The fourth, almost forgotten, child of the Darkshadows, Darian was a most curious, reclusive, brooding and somber youth who was gifted in the reading of ancient texts. He resented and even hated the way the dark arts were taught to him by his parents and would often hide to miss the day's lesson. One day while hiding from his parents he found buried a very ancient book, Potissimus Obscurum, which was written in a forgotten language. Over many months, he was able to decipher the ancient symbols and began his long journey into Darkness. In the ancient text he read of a rite where life could be given back to that which was now dead. He took a dead bird that he had found in the woods and used his new knowledge to give it life. To his amazement it worked and the bird awoke and began to fly. Something even more wonderful was discovered in the days that followed. Darian noticed that when he brought back to life small creatures, he could change their behavior; timid doves attacked hawks, once large agressive dogs hid from rabbits. He even used parts of different animals to create beasts of his own, strange hideous creatures that would do is bidding. Though very young he had already mastered the art of cloning and using the parts of living animals to create his own obedient creatures. Soon bored with experimenting with animals, he began digging up freshly buried bodies from graveyards. With these dead bodies he refined his art of cloning and creating new life. The more he mastered this ancient art the deeper he went into his solitude and into the darkness that was seducing him. The ancient book had taught him many powers that he kept hidden from all, even his family, less his parents discover these strange powers that he had mastered and who had taken a deep hold on him. At the age of sixteen he ran away from home to search for One who could teach him more of what was found in the book.

THE LOST YEARS

One night while sitting in a dark cave with only a small fire to warm himself and without food, he began to read over and over a part of the ancient book that he not yet understood. Outside raged a great storm with bolts of lightning flashing across the sky and rain pelting hard against the ground. Weak from hunger and in trance like state from reading the ancient text, Darian was suddenly plunged into total darkness. The book he was holding began to lose its shape while the cave grew into a large swirling dark hole that sucked him and the book deep into a state of total darkness. An explosion shook the cave which collapsed onto itself and a large part of the side of the mountain was sent flying across the dark skies. Nothing was left of the cave, the book and the one who was reading it. Nothing more can be said here than Darian was where all is darkness, where light and good could never survive. During those lost years he was an apprentice to the great dark master, Umbra Vinco.

UMBRA VINCO

During his studies with the great master, time did not exist; past, present and future were all one. Pain was pleasure, pleasure was pain. He gained in strenght and knowledge, always out to the test his newly acquired skills against the great master who enjoyed crushing and humiliating him. In time Darian, with the aid of the ancient book and his total devotion to learning the dark arts, defeated the great master by gaining many new abilities such as the power of Solucis: if he must fight forces of darkness of any kind, he can transform himself into the purest form of light, stronger than sunlight. If any dark force enters this light or is touched by this light, its powers are neutralised and, if they remain too long in the light their powers will be destroyed. This is the new gained power that he used to defeat his dark teacher. Now master of the realm of total darkness, he was ready to return and reek vengeance on those who had so cruelly abused him. Though he was lost to the world for many years, he had not forgotten his family and all that had transpired in his youth.

HIS RETURN

Recently an old dark mage, using the blood of a virgin and ancient rite to summon the Forces of Darkness, recited the words "Ego voco vinco of obscurum". On the altar where lay the virgin, a hole appeared leading to the very pit of evil. From the pit the Beast did appear, took the virgin and from the pit Darian did come forth. Behind him the hole closed and the dark mage was petrified at what he saw; becoming a stone statue frozen in the moment of Darian's return. He was now back, changed and with new dark powers which he had learned from the ancient book, that was now forever lost, and from the great master Umbra Vinco. Like the viper, he may appear to be calm, but with little or no provocation he can and will strike.

Darian is a high sorcerer, master of the art of True Sorcery, and casts spells much as a dragon or other being with innate power. He no longer needs any words (no verbal components), gestures (no somatic components) or materials (no material components or foci) to use his magic, he simply wills the magic to occur. This makes it harder for opponents to identify his magic and defend themselve. From his time in the realm of darkness with the great master Umbra Vinco, Darian has gained new powers over energy which he can use for ultra-powerful ends. He is also able create a new energy as well as destroy sources of energy. If attacked by anyone using magic, he can absorb the energy of the spell, bolt or carrier of the magic and make it his own. Where others are weakened or killed by poison or evil, he feeds off poison and evil to gain greater strenght.

If pain brings you pleasure then I will withold the pain but if pleasure pains you, then I will spoil you with pleasure.
