Dai is a sly, athletic young woman, a cousin to the Loray family.
She keeps herself well-groomed, with a penchant for dying her hair interesting colors. The natural hue has not been seen for years.
She's come to Beware for three main reasons.
First: recently, she's gotten bored. She'd like to find new places to see, new people to con---errrrr, to meet.
Second: she's curious. What lies beyond her own stomping grounds?
Third: She's tired of her father doing his level best to get her married off.
Eight of her fifteen surviving siblings still live at home. The rest are all enthusiastically producing the maximum number of offspring in the shortest amount of time. She can't keep track of all the littles herself, and sees no real need to produce more grandchildren for her father to bounce on his knee. It's the one thing she's ever truly defied him on. Besides, he has a poor idea of what kind of man appeals to his daughter.
She is an Esper. SHe has two abilities. The first is more minor--she "eats" magic. Around her, when she chooses to use this ability, greater magics will be disrupted, and small magics nullified. Permanent spells will cease to work while her gift is active, but will resume as soon as she stops, or leaves the area. Impermanent ones will simply cease.
The second is a well-trained ability to create illusions. Useful things, illusions. If a body has an illusion over her pockets to hide that bulge, it'll probably take a lot longer for another to notice her jewelery's grown legs and walked away. Dai can, at need, create illusions that cover all five physical senses, but doing so tires her faster.
Neither ability functions if she's unconcious.
Dai is a fairly self-centered person who tries to hide behind a mask of geniality. People are easier to work if they like you and think you like them. She is, however, a woman whose loyalty to kinfolk has been trained into her from infancy. A dichotomy, but at least it ensures she usually had others around who'd back her up in times of need.
