and four iron spikes.
Along with three sacks.

To Understand her, you must understand the past that shaped her present…

She was born in a Waterdhavian mansion only to be raised in the shadowy tunnels of Waterdeeps notorious thieves’ guild. Azariahs mother Marette was an elven woman; married to the human spice merchant Aradnor Malveen. She was also the mistress to Elaith "The Serpent" Craulnober. Tragically Marette was murdered a few minutes after her daughter’s birth. According to the midwife present at her birth; as soon as it became apparent the baby was not half elven, but full elf her real father (Elaith) was sent for.

Before Elaith could arrive, the story goes that shortly after the delivery of Riah, Aradnor by no means a stupid man, deduced his pretty wife’s shameful adulterous secret. All in the room at the time should have known he had taken it to well. After lifting a cup of water to her lips and kissing her brow. The spice merchant bid her to save her strength. Without so much as a second look to the tiny life in the cradle of her mothers arms. He left the chamber expecting to be summoned upon hearing of his wife and newborn child’s death. He assumed the slow acting poison in the water would pass into and taint the milk the healthy infant took was taking. Both should die of painful cramps and dehydration. Such would have happened had the well intentioned midwife and friend of the ladies not sent for Azariahs true father already.

Though he came immediately by the time he arrived the mother of his only child was dead... Assuredly Elaith Craulnober, felt no true sense of loss for the woman. But it is said by all who bore witness, that upon entering the chamber. The cold veneer around his heart cracked a little. He carried Azariah swaddled and sick, in his cloak away with him into the night darkened alleys of Waterdeep taking only her mothers midwife with him.

He never revealed if he knew of the poison used. How could he not? As the head of a guild of thieves and assassins, he is knowledgeable in such things.
It is a fact that within 7 hours of Azariahs birth.
Every last Malveen had fallen prey to a series of truly unfortunate accidents leaving the family name and title to fall dormant.

A handsome, deadly and charismatic elf, Elaith at one time was the captain of the queens’ guard on Evermeet.
When his ancestral Moonblade went into dormancy rather then accept him to wield it. He left Evermeet, finally arriving in Waterdeep where he gave into the cruel icy rage, the Moonblade had sensed in him. Taverns and bards abound with tales of the man. Adventuring parties that he led into the woods to recover vast amounts of treasure, adventures from which he was the only one to return.

Ironically Elaith was poisoned in a fight a few years after his daughter was born and almost died.
It was as he lay dieing, that his thoughts turned to his tiny daughter and he wondered what would become of her when he died.
That single unselfish thought awoke the blade and caused it to heal him.
Though he is still evil, he now undertakes only the most important of tasks himself. Preferring to hire adventures and use his vast networked thieves’ guild instead.
This brings us to now. He is not a stupid man. Rather then explain his motivations he is the kind of man who simply kills his quarry rather then wait for their cavalry to arrive. If he has an obsession it with his daughter, and to have her claim the blade that refused him. The last 145 years of his life have been dedicated to preserving her purity and innocence while at the same time, training her to excel in use of the long sword and throwing daggers.

Which brings us to now :

Azariah is achingly pure; in fact she wears a charm around her neck that bestows (unknowingly to her) the blessing of Corelleon Larithan on every day. At the hour of midnight it also casts an atonement spell. After more then a hundred years of wearing the charm the magic of the necklace has ingrained itself into Azariah, even if she lost the magical device the enchantment would still continue to work on her. (In game terms. Azariah is blessed as per the spell bless. The atonement means that each week she is restored to a pure state, free of sin and charms. It also means that she cannot be turned into an undead being. IF an undead were to feed from her, they would find her blood a succulent and rare treat, provided they could withstand the pain that went along with obtaining it. If she feeds them freely and of her own will; there is an enticing tingling sensation that floods throughout them.) Raised in Waterdeep, her schooling lacked for nothing. But making friends proved difficult. When a child who spent too much time listening to his mother gossip set her to tears for a slight in regards to her fathers, hinted at underworld connections. No one was surprised to learn that on that very night, after Elaith tucked her to sleep; The mother in question was attacked on her way home from a party. Her tongue removed and sent to her husband. Azariah learned at a very young age, not to let her father see her upset, while the other children at school learned it a much better idea to stay away from her.

It wasn't long though after that, she was withdrew from school and began tutoring. A man named Paxton was her longest tutor, and one of the best assassins in the country. She would never know it was a threat on her life that set "The Serpent" to find her the best safety.

For all her tutors, she never spent any time in the woods, most likely because they were not elvish and did not realize the disservice they did to the young elf neglecting her spiritual growth, and chance to bond with the land.

Because most of her instructors where thieves in her fathers employ, it was not surprising that the rogues delighted in teaching her sleight of hand and trap work.

Azariah, as a result HATES the woods and feels tremendously intimidated, when around elves who are so blatantly in tune with the woods and the planet. Little can convince her to enter the woods on her own. On the other hand, it matters not what city she enters, in a few hours she will have established the lay of the city, On a city street, she can disappear in the blink of an eye.

From her father she has learned to use magic, to some ability. But for the most part she prefers to use a long sword when trouble presents itself. She is a master at sub-dual and has never to her knowledge killed any.

She had no idea why her father suddenly sent her from Waterdeep. It all happened suddenly. Elaith woke her one night, bundled her along with Paxton onto a ship. After making her swear a solemn vow that she would never remove her necklace. Elaith kissed her brow and then was gone back into the city promising to come for her it when it was safe again.

Shortly after arriving in beware Azariah met the man, that she would a year later marry.

Dias seemed to be lost, and drifting; there was something different about Dias then anyone else she had met before.
She rather wisely abandoned the notion of stealing one of his daggers. A finely crafted bear hilted masterpiece wrought in gold and steel. A fine choice, since the man became her friend, companion and protector. A decision made one night in Beware when an incubus tried seducing her from afar.

It was apparent that he suffered from inner turmoil’s. When he confided in her what it was, but did not ask of her to help him she made up her mind to do just that. She at last had something to focus on.
After weeks of careful research and planning eventually she created a Chalice of Never Ending.
Rather then refill with wine, however as befits the bottles of the same magical design. This one would fill with her hauntingly pure blood on command. *This blood comes from her own body, and could prove lethal to the young woman if it were abused.**
The gift while well intentioned was not received well and led to a temporary rift in their friendship which is only now months later slowly repaired.
The chalice is irrevocably linked to Azariah. If it is destroyed so to would her life be forfeit to the magic’s that enchant it.

**It was only after they fell in love, that Dias asked Azariah if he could have the chalice.**

There are of course other problems Azariah must face. Such as the malaugrym that hunt her, in their on going blood feud with her father. She knows in her heart that the shadow creatures will one day capture her; thankfully Elaith relented, and Riah and Dias were married a year to the day of their first meeting.

She has surrounded herself with good friends such as:

wolfdance: A garou fighter and empath healer.

Dreadnaught: While the man most days cannot recall her name she feels responsible for the paladin none the less and does what she can to help him without his knowledge. No one shall understand how much it ment to her that her husband has laid aside his differences with the paladin, and that Dias even went to the trouble of having him perform their wedding ceremony.

Prince Guoron:A vampire prince and friend of wolfdances, he has helped her fend off the shadow monsters.

Amalthea:A unicorn, who can't seem to remember her either, but Azariah is fond of the girl just the same.

Vladimir Vonklatka:In truth, it has taken a long time for Riah to accept the man as a friend. He once unknowingly almost made her leave Dias out of fear for her husbands safety. Time however is a better judge of things then the elf, and thankfully too for several times now Vlad has aided the two people she loves most. Dias and Wolfdance. He perhaps better then anyone, understands her love of her husband.

She has just set out on a new path in life, as the wife of Dias, and for now that seems enough for the mischievous elf, so long as she can still practice her skills.
