Alys Graylora ancient Sidhe necromancer |
||||||||||||||
Born of
the immortal race of the powerful Sidhe, Alys Dar'dana lived an idyllic life in her
homeland until she murdered her husband in a fit of rage. Cursed by
her goddess Dana (also known as Danu and the Great Mother), she has
been forced for centuries to wander worlds. Although her body has died
many times, the spirit and body are reformed after each death. The
punishment for her crimes is to spend eternity with the knowledge that she
broke her people's ancient laws and murdered the one she loved. When Alys first arrived to the lands of Beware, she befriended the ogre Gore. She helped him bring the half-demon remielle to the side of the Light. She professed that she was of the Light and worked hard to be as powerful as the Dark Ones that she encountered. But her flaw proved to be her undoing. She hated Dorlan Graylor with all of her being, working hard to increase her powers in magical arts ~ especially the Dark Arts. Angered at her inability to attack Dorlan due to a vow promised by another, she locked herself inside her tower and began to cast a series of spells.
Alys was trapped in the cellar of her black tower until her friend Gore rescued her. But the Shadow Wraith still haunted the land. It took her many days before she realized that the Shadow Wraith was actually her subconscious while she was asleep or unconscious. Her subconscious had created a terrifying evil that threatened the common peoples of the land. |

Unfortunately, she was afraid what others of the Light would do if they found out about her connection to the Shadow Wraith. The Shadow Wraith had made a deal with Dorlan Graylor, but she was only faintly aware that her dark-half had contacted him. The wraith had begun killing the trees, wildlife and eventually two innocent bystanders in the Castle Inn. And she knew it was planning to pass through the village to kill all in its path. Strangely enough, she first sought the help of Fask'Eln, Dorlan's mate. But Fask'Eln only had their needs in mind and she looked for help elsewhere. She then asked Azrael to help her. After much discussion, he agreed and went to find Merryn Steel to help him with the "exorcism" of the Shadow Wraith.

She
had been fighting with the need to bring back the Shadow Wraith into her
mind, to accept it as part of herself. But she had hoped that Azrael
would rid of her of it for good. She was caught between the two
choices - either the Shadow Wraith goes free while she is killed - or -
accept the Shadow Wraith and the consequences of its power. She chose
the latter.
And while her defenses were down, Fask'Eln planted the Dark Seed - insuring Alys Dar'dana's loyalty to the dark couple. When her friend Gore returned, she spoke with him in the presence of Merryn Steel and Velanna. She explained what had happened to her while he was gone. He told her that he would have to kill her. She agreed, willing to sacrifice herself to protect the land - but more to prove her love for him. He then said he wouldn't do it then but later, then told her to leave his keep and never return. Alys left the Keep, totally distraught. She encountered Malvolio Darkshadow in the woods and spoke briefly with him. He helped her understand that she wasn't the only one who had dealt with such heart-retching pain. She then announced to the people of the Lands that she was of the Dark and would remain so. As she was homeless, she approached Dorlan Graylor who allowed her to stay within his home. After helping Dorlan capture and murder a former lover, Nathan Ursdyle, she took Dorlan's last name as yet another sign of her loyalty to him. Since then, she has given birth to two of Dorlan's children, Daithe and Decassus. Alys continues to walk the Dark Path. Whether it leads her to greater power or death is left into the Hands of Fate. |
