After The Swords Fell
This section hold the information known of the travels of the "Drop'em" Unit after the war had ceased and they'd been told they were free to have a life.
The wars had ended, the fighting stopped. Everyone was rejoicing happy to finally no longer have to kill another. And many warforged were lost, some took to rebuilding much that had been lost. Many took to other labours and some remained to rust away unsure what to do now. It was now that the unit came to a decision, their ability to adapt and change to any combat situation shifted to adapt to a far grander one. Freedom.
First came the boats, many dock hands needed to get things flowing again now that blockades were down and travel was free again. So the unit paid for passage by in a night single handedly loading up a days worth of cargo. Their new lives had begun, and it was taking them away from the lands they once knew. And they enjoyed the challange wishing to seek what new things they'd have to adapt to and over come to continue to survive.
It was in faeurn they spent much of their time learning new things, magics, weapons, fighting styles. It was also here they took up a mantle they understood and worked well under. Mercenaries
They had managed to set up with a town and took on odd jobs anything from farming help, to daily chores. It wasn't untill the city fell under attack did their skills show through and the city was thankful they had been there. But in time that too came to an end, and the unit moved on to adapt to greater things.
It was another year of travel before they'd find themselves in a place of oddities. A great cave full of danger and threats around every bend, it took them into the depths of the world and into places living eyes had never seen. And still it was not enough they needed to be able to find something to interest them, constently changing ever new and ever hard. It was at this point the unit had begun thoughts of seperation to seek out adapting to the world on their own.
It was around now they had encountered a group of dwarves and gnomes seeking to make a business. They'd a grand Idea to make up a business of mineing and smithing and inventing the likes of which no one had ever seen....and they knew just the place.....only problem with it was the current residence didn't wish to give it up without a fight. The unit helped the group, working with them to clear out tunnels in a mountain made long ago by another group of dwarves. It was there in the depths of this mountain did the warforge find what they had been looking for....and with the help of the gnomes and dwarves desire to bring their business to every part of the world....they would have their adventure and need to adapt...and to adapt to people the likes of which they've never encountered before.
First came the picking of command, the unit would act as a whole for the group, guards and protectors. escorts and representitives. They would need to learn diplomacy over combat, how to talk to people without sounding so harsh or brash. These were concepts foriegn to the warforged and they took to them like fish to sky....this was a bother to the gnomes. But in time and with a grand deal of work they had managed one grand feat...no longer being called Commanders and trying to sort out chain of command. of course they also took to listening to the head engineer over the others for simplicity the gnomes and dwarves ran with it. and for the longest time the warforged learned the skill of mining and forging. learning to craft with metals, and how to draw out and refine ore to get the best and the most out of every bit taken from the earth.
It wouldn't take long with the units help and protection for the group to get their business going quickly, and with the help of the warforged they had quickly begun to make a name for themselves. The only place in all the realms you could find gnomes dwarves and warforged working side by side. And it wouldn't take long before time came to move out once again...but this time the gnomes had an idea. And with some talking the warforged unit had agreed to stay, on the condition that in shifts and groups they'd be sent forth to explore lands, given missions to seek out items or a certine time in other realms and return to them. It would require adapting to lands, people, negotiating, using their own thoughts to judge if an item fit with what was wanted or if it was close enough. And above that, to make a map of the land, a mental of phsyical one to on return give to their employers and allow them to judge a place as well.
They'd be sent far and wide to explore and even take up smaller missions while on these trips. anything to help garner a good repor with a place before a business was even considered being set up there. Someplaces were good for trade....the warforged learned how to spot this, some places were bad for it all, they learned how to spot this....some places would be to close to call, they learned how to spot this, and in some cases...fix it, these were places enjoyed the most. To be able to forge new allys enough to garner a safe space and work from there to make the surrounding area safe for business.
It's here the story of Adama picks up, his turn having come to venture forth to a new land. To seek out a place in which to set up business with the new realm, and see what new things he can learn
